The author admits raising children in today’s environment remains a tremendous challenge. Even those movies of the ’30s and ’40s could influence a child’s mind as they did on me-some good and some not so good. I thought I could swim just by watching Tarzan. The influences of seemingly trivial experiences have a lifetime effect. Fate’s Kiss has everything covered, with subjects from the heritage of my parents to sexuality, fish, frogs, a snapper turtle on a fisherman’s thumb, to educational system differences in various parts of the country.
